anni.jpg
Little Orphan Anni
Breed: Labrador/Pitt Bull mix
Age: Young
Orphan Annie was found digging through trash cans in Playa Del Rey. She is a lab mix and is about 18 months and weighs about 60 lbs. She is in good health but is has been treated for, and is recovering from, an ear infection. She was recently a mother, but we could not find her puppies, so we are assuming she was abandoned without them. She gets along with cats and dogs, and is learning good manners from her foster dog sibling! She is very sweet and has shown no aggression, and has been around children as yong as infants and up to 10 years old and is good with all of them.

Cheyenne
Breed: Shepherd Mix
Age: 3 Years
This is Cheyenne. She is a 3-year-old Shepherd mix. Poor Cheyenne has not had the best life. Before she was rescued she lived for 2 years on the streets of South LA. Oh, she had a family when she was a cute little fuzzy puppy but when they had to move she was thrown out like a piece of garbage to fend for herself. While she lived on the streets she ended up having two litters of pups (who the neighborhood kids took once they were old enough) and was pregnant with her third litter when we caught her. Cheyenne spent 2 years living on her own and fending for herself and it is very obvious in that period of time she was not treated very well by people. Well, we rescued Cheyenne just in time because 4 days after she was caught she gave birth to 8 fat puppies. Cheyenne has spent the last 8 weeks tending to her pups but now they are weaned and ready for their new homes and so is she. We know she will require a very special home but we know there is one out there just for her. Poor Cheyenne is extremely shy when she first meets new people and encounters new situations. It takes her a while to warm up but the fastest way to her heart is by FOOD!!! She will always cave in for a treat. She is still learning to trust the human hand to love her and not hurt her. She will let you pet her but only for a second just as she starts to enjoy it she will shrink away for fear you are going to hurt her. I know somewhere deep down in Cheyenne's heart she wants to be a normal fun-loving dog but she just needs time. When she is happy to see you her whole body seems to smile...her eyes soften and she grins at you and when she wags her tail her body sways with it! Cheyenne will need a very patient home. One that will allow her to grow and gain her trust in humans again. She is fine with kids but would probably like one with older children because lots of commotion still stresses her out. She is also fine with other dogs big and small but would probably do best in a home with a male dog. We also think her perfect home will have another dog because she is still more comfortable around dogs. We know finding Cheyenne a forever home is a long shot but we do not think she deserves to be discarded again just because she requires a little more work than the average dog. Humans are what threw her out like trash her and screwed her up, now she need an angel, a champion, to help her become the great, sweet, loving dog that is hiding just beneath the surface. Cheyenne has been around children and dogs for the past two months. She is housebroken, and eats her food inside her crate. She has not one ounce of aggression in her. She will be a wonderful dog with some work. There is a saying, "I never said it would be easy...but I did say it would be worth it." This is the epitome of Cheyenne's life. Cheyenne currently weighs about 55 pounds.

Flea
Breed: Chihuahua
Age: baby
FLEA "F" (Fuzzy) "L" (Loveable) "E" (Extremely) "A" (Adorable) ...and AVAILABLE! My name is Flea and I was born with a crooked leg. I get around fine but my leg could be repaired when I grow up with an orthopedic surgery. The tail end of my spine is not connected to the rest of me and that causes difficulty when I have to go potty. I need to have a laxative twice a day and eat only canned food to keep things moving, I also need my bottom cleaned as my floppy tail gets in the way. Flea is a funny playful, very cuddly little puppy. Flea is not in pain but will need special care, if you have room in your life for a very special little guy and are willing to care for him and keep him safe and comfortable you can put in an application. Yes he is adorable but will you still love him after cleaning his rear for the thousandth time? Flea is a sweet little puppy that has some special challenges and we must do the best we can for him by finding him his special angel who will love him forever. Flea is 4 months old and weighs 2 pounds. He will probably be less than 5 pounds full grown.
fritz.jpg
Fritz
Breed: Great Pyrenees
Age: Baby
Fritz is a purebred Great Pyrenees. He is only about 8-10 weeks old. He was found on the street by a family who had formerly adopted from Noah's Bark. They called us because they knew we would take this matted, filthy dog covered with sores from mange (a skin disease) that had been left untreated. He literally had zero personality because he had obviously been ignored or mistreated by humans. After a few days he wagged his tail and began making eye contact with his foster mom. He finally enjoyed being held and would come to her voice. Look at what a beautiful boy he is if someone had only cared enough to get him some medication. He is healing well from his physical ailments and is learning that people and dogs are really nice! He gets along very well with other dogs and people. He is very quiet and mellow, he likes to play with other dogs and thrives on the human touch. The Great Pyrenees dog is known to be very protective of their families, great with kids and wonderful family pets. If not well-socialized early they can become dog aggressive and the person who chooses to bring this adorable guy into their home must be prepared to brush him daily, take him to training, exercise him regularly and vigorously, and must be confident in their role as the "Pack Leader". Otherwise, this guy will gladly assume that role! Because they can be same sex dog aggressive, we would like to place him in a home without other male dogs.

Koko
Breed: Yorkshire Terrier (Yorkie)
Age: 7 months
Hi, My name is Koko. I am a 7-month-old, six pound, purebred Yorkie...now before you get all excited because you think I am a "cute, posh, purse dog" please read my entire bio. Now I am very cute and I love attention but I have learned that I must earn my rewards. I have had a kind of rough 7 months, my previous owners bought me from a pet store and while I know they loved me, they treated me like a child and when they had to move and couldn't take me with them I learned something I never knew before...I AM ACTULLY A DOG!! Not a small, furry person! I have had to learn this over the past month or so and to my amazement I actually enjoy being a dog! I enjoy walking on my leash and prancing around. I enjoy going potty outside (for the most part) like I said before I thought I was human so I thought I was supposed to inside like you do! I like other dogs although I am still learning how to play with them...how sad I am a puppy and I don't even know how to play. When I lived with my previous owners they never even let my feet touch the ground. Oh and did I mention I like kids too!! Now if you have read this far keep going because there are some requirements to adopt me. I know some of these things may sound harmless but if you really love me and want to adopt me you follow these "rules" because it will make me a happy, balanced dog...and I really like that feeling. I cannot be carried around like a baby because I am not a baby, I am a dog!!! And proud of it!! I cannot be allowed on the furniture because if you give me an inch I will take a mile!! Just being honest!! I must be crated at night and when you are not home. I want my own space and my own bed too!! I do not want to share yours! I am also an escape artist...I know the grass isn't always greener on the other side but I want to go take a look for myself! And finally, I must be a on a raw food diet. As a puppy I was over vaccinated (did you know they give the same amount of vaccine to an 80 pound lab as they would to a little yorkie like me?) This caused me to suffer from seizures. But I haven't had one in 3 months because I was on all of the meds to stop them. Since I have been on the raw food diet I have been weaned from my meds and I am now completely off of them. The raw food has no chemicals, preservatives or additives all of which I am very sensitive to which could trigger the seizures. So you must keep me on the Raw Food Diet (courtesy of "A Pawfect World"). Oh and there is one more requirement...you and I must go to training!! But I like to think of it as a bonding experience. We get to learn about what will keep me a happy and balanced dog!! Because for the first time in my life I feel happy and normal. Now if you have gotten through my autobiography and are not thinking, "I am so glad she is not my dog!!" then maybe we should meet! I really am a very good girl and although I may require a little more work than the average dog (that is because I am not average!!) People will be envious because we will have the best relationship and I will be the most balanced, best-behaved and HAPPIEST yorkie in LA!! UPDATE. Upon further training our trainer thinks that Koko would do best in a calm home, and a home without kids.

Sassy
Breed: Yorkshire Terrier/Poodle Mix
Age: One
My Name is Sassy. I am a one-year-old yorki-poo (Yorkie/Poodle mix). I was rescued from a high kill shelter. I was kept in the back room where no one could see me because I had demodex mange. As you can see I am recovering and my hair needs to grow back but other than that I am a healthy little girl. First off let me tell you I am a DIVA!I want to be the QUEEN BEE!! I think everyone should cater to me!! I am and will be the little princess in my new home! Now don't get me wrong I love everyone and am great with kids and other dogs. I actually love to play with smaller dogs!! Bigger dogs kind of scare me and I have to bark at them so that I look big and tough so they won't mess with me, but really I am a big chicken. I like to bark at cats and my foster mom says it is really annoying. I actually think it is very fun but maybe a home without cats is better for me. I am working on housebreaking and I am completely crate trained. I am a good girl in the car and I am learning to walk on a leash. I am looking for a home that has another small dog for me to play with but more than anything else I am looking for someone who understands that I am a princess and want to be treated like one!! I weigh about 5 pounds.

Moose
Breed: Shepherd/Rottweiler mix
Age: One
Hello my name is Moose. I am a big 80-pound adorable, lovable, extremely good-natured one-year-old puppy. I am a Shepherd/Rottweiler/maybe coonhound? mix. I love everyone and everything I meet, I am very submissive with other dogs even 2 pound Chihuahua puppies that are smaller then my head. I am very intelligent, and easily trained. Housebroken after just 4 days! I sit and walk very nicely on a leash. I am very mellow and love to nap. I am practically perfect; my one flaw is I will go over around or through any obstacles to get back to you. If you put me in the back yard I will go over the fence and come knock at the door to get back in the house with you. I would be happiest if I lived in a big apartment or condo where we would only go outside together. In my former home I was left outside tied up all the time. I was very sad and lonely. I will only be adopted to someone with an inside only home or a very tall block wall. 6-foot wood fences are no obstacle to Moose. Chain link is so easy to climb. Moose would love to have another doggy companion to keep him company when you are gone or a family with someone in the family home with him
